Human Resources Administration (HRA)

Employment Services

HRA's Career Services offer Cash Assistance clients opportunities to help them increase their job skills and build a career that will lead to success and financial security. HRA's Career Services works closely with clients to find opportunities that match their skills, needs, and career goals, and help them work toward opportunities to grow and build a successful career. Maximize education, training and employment-related services for job opportunities that create the basis for building career pathways out of poverty. Clients can choose to engage in vocational education opportunities, high school equivalency courses, and adult literacy classes including ESL. To build a holistic experience that leads to employment and a career, clients often meet their work activity engagement by a combination of education and internships, fellowships, or community service opportunities.

The Benefits Navigator was designed with temporarily housed parents and frontline staff, in a collaboration between the NYC Administration for Children’s Services, NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, NYC Department of Homeless Services, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, NYC Human Resources Administration, and the Public Policy Lab, a nonprofit innovation team for government.
